Give the Gift of School Back Packs to
Palestinian Children
Sponsored by Washington Interfaith Alliance for Middle East
Peace
There is an extreme need for school supplies in Palestine.
With an average annual income of $800, most Palestinian families can barely
afford school fees much less buy their children basic school materials.
Recognizing this immense need, for more than 5 years, local peace activists,
interfaith organizations, and churches have teamed with American Near East
Refugee Aid to collect school supplies for Palestinian children. The purpose of these efforts is to help and support the
education of Palestinian children in the West Bank and Gaza.
Since 2003 ANERA, a registered 501(c) 3 non-governmental organization founded in 1968 in the aftermath of the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, to help the hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinian has helped in the shipping and distribution of the donated school supplies to Palestinian refugees in the West Bank and Gaza.
ANERA this year has requested that we collect only book bags
and back packs, for fear that the Israeli authorities will hold the shipment
for inspection if we collect a variety of items, costing ANERA additional
rental and warehousing fees.
